<DIV STYLE="text-align:Left;"><DIV><DIV><P><SPAN>Most of the Lyons sandstone consists of a red diagenetic facies. The red facies which is barren of petroleum is characterized by hematite, clay, quartz overgrowths and calcite cement (Lee, 1997). Also the Lyons sandstone consist of a gray facies, distinguished from the red facies by anhydrite and dolomite cement that overlie bitumen stains and by a lack of hematite and calcite. Lyons is characterized by a well sorted quartz sandstone containing about 75% of subangular to subrounded grains of quartz, bounded together by various matrix cementing materials. Samples range from orthoquarzites to subarcosas containing plagioclase, mosvcovite and minor rock fragments.</SPAN></P></DIV></DIV></DIV> |
