Description: This multivariate layer represents the density of wellbore infrastructure, summarized by record count and key characteristic, within a 400 square kilometer hexagon grid. Proprietary wellbore data were utilized to create this layer with the intention of supporting validation of the public wellbore inventory in the Wellbore Exploration and Location Logistic System (WELLS; formally CO2-Locate) Database. The layer contains information including wellbore record density per grid cell, as well as combinations of select well characteristics; these include density of wellbore records by spud year ranges (e.g., pre-1975, post-1975), true vertical depth ranges (e.g., greater than 2,500 feet), status (e.g., active, plugged and abandoned), and type (e.g., oil/gas, injection). Each attribute (i.e., field) within the layer represents a unique combination of well characteristics, which are layered on top of one another to create this multivariate layer.
